- Party favours should be age appropriate. Avoid small pieces for toddlers. Read the packaging of the favour for age references.
- Be sure to have extra party favours on hand for unexpected guests. Generally 5 extras is a safe bet.
- If giving away candies or snacks, be aware of food allergies. And, throw a fun toothbrush in your loot bag!
- Try to add a few educational treats: i.e. fun pencils, erasers, rulers, stamps or notebooks.
- Purchase stickers in bulk to put in your loot bags. If you live in the Toronto area, check out Sandylion Sticker Designs Warehouse…. call 905-475-6771, or 1-800-387-4215.
- Search on line for a sticker outlet in your area.
- If possible, try to follow the theme of your party.
- Visit your nearest "dollar" store for great and inexpensive ideas.
- For the Dinosaur Adventure, and Motorworks Racecar Design, you may find “gummy” type candies in the shapes of Dinosaurs and Race Cars at your local department store or bulk store.
- If packaging bulk candies, consider using the snack size storage bag, available in the food wrap section at most grocery stores. It is a smaller size than the sandwich bag—perfect for small snacks.
- Alternatively to handing out a loot bag, try giving a small fun gift to each child.
- Don’t just hand out the loot bags at the end, have the children hunt for them. It is more fun that way, and it can be a final activity at the party.
- Be creative…. use a pail and shovel instead of a bag. How about a mug, or drinking cup? Cosmetic bags for the girls, travel bags for the boys? How about fanny packs? Keep your eye on clearance tables at your favourite stores, as well as your local “dollar store” to pick up the bargains.
